‘Resident Evil 2’ now out for iPad, iPhone, and Mac

Weeks ahead of its original launch date, “Resident Evil 2” has made its way to M-series Macs, as well as select models of iPhone and iPad.

On Tuesday, Capcom announced that zombie-horror classic Resident Evil 2 has officially landed on the App Store. The game was initially slated for a New Year’s Eve release, which means it’s shown up a full three weeks early.

In the remake of the classic horror game, players are transported to Raccoon City in 1998 amid a zombie infestation.

To play Resident Evil 2 on Mac, you’ll need a machine with an M1 chip or later and be running macOS Ventura or newer. To play on iPad, you’ll need to run iPadOS 17.0 or later and a device with an M-series or A17 Pro chip.

And iPhone users can join in on the fun, too. Just be sure you’re running iOS 17.0 or later on a device with the A17 Pro chip or newer. Currently, that includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

Resident Evil 2 is offered as a free game, offering players a “try before you buy” experience. If they like what they play, the full game is available as an in-app purchase for $9.99, with an additional $1.99 in-app purchase that unlocks “all in-game rewards.”
