Revive the iPod using your Apple Watch with the TinyPod

The TinyPod

TinyPod is a revival of the iPod, an enclosure that turns the Apple Watch into a compact version of the portable music device.

Apple officially discontinued the iPod in May 2022 after over two decades of availability. In one new accessory that’s bound to appeal to users who miss the iPod, the TinyPod attempts to offer a more advanced version of the device that takes advantage of the Apple Watch.

The TinyPod is an enclosure for the wrist-worn device, which turns the Apple Watch into the display of an iPod. It’s a design that’s more reminiscent of the iPod than an exact replica, with rounded corners and a simplified design compared to the original.

It is billed as a fun way to leave the iPhone at home since the cellular Apple Watch can offer many of the important core features of the iPhone. For those keen on using health-related features, the rear sensor of the Apple Watch is still exposed on the back, which also enables battery charging.

While users cannot access the Digital Crown of the Apple Watch, they can still interact with it by using the scroll wheel on the front. The wheel mechanically spins the Digital Crown around, depending on your finger or thumb’s movements.

TinyPod Lite

For those who want just a miniature case for the Apple Watch without a scroll wheel, there’s also the TinyPod Lite. In a flexible case, the TinyPod Lite exchanges the scroll wheel for side access to the Apple Watch itself so that users can turn the Digital Crown themselves.

The TinyPod is available from the official website in 40/41mm, 44/45mm, and 49mm sizes to match your Apple Watch.

For the smaller sizes, the main version with the scroll wheel costs $79.99, while the Lite is $29.99. The Ultra-sized variants are $89.99 and $39.99 respectively.

Most variants are said to be shipping in the summer, with some arriving in the fall instead.
