Apple ranked most admired company for 18th consecutive year

Continuing its impressive eighteen-year winning streak, Apple has managed to secure first ranking on Fortune’s annual ‘Worlds Most Admired Companies’ list once again.

To determine the best of the best, Fortune and it’s partner, Korn Ferry, began with a list of 1,500 companies, of which 1,000 were the largest U.S. companies, ranked by revenue. The remaining were non-U.S. companies that made more than $10 billion in revenue.

Then, 3,380 executives, directors, and analysts were asked to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria. Categories included things like investment value, quality of management, products, social responsibility, and ability to attract talent.

Apple has sat squarely at the top since 2006, making this the company’s eighteenth consecutive win. For the sixth year in a row, Microsoft and Amazon have rounded out the top three.

While Apple may have secured the top spot, Nvidia has made an impressive showing for itself thanks to its GPU chips, which have been instrumental in the wide-scale deployment of generative AI. It rose six spots from its previous position, managing to snag fourth place.

Also in the top ten are Berkshire Hathaway, Costco, JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Google and YouTube parent company Alphabet, and American Express.

In 2023, Apple scored first in social responsibility, financial soundness, innovation, and global competitiveness.

In 2022, Apple was praised for its people management, innovation, social responsibility, long term investment value, and more.
