Glowtime is coming and AirTags save the day, on the AppleInsider Podcast

We’re days away from the launch of the iPhone 16, but the question is whether Apple will make it to September 9 considering that it is — yet again — said to be doomed because Luca Maestri is leaving.

The latest reason for the certain death of Apple is that its long-time Chief Financial Officer is leaving to take up another post at Apple. Every day, you check the business pages to track what your favorite Apple executives are up to in their careers, and this move certainly means you need to consider carefully whether to buy an iPhone 16 Pro Max or not.

More reasonably likely to affect your iPhone 16 buying decision, though, is all of the news we’re already hearing about the iPhone 17 range. It’s going to be better than the iPhone 16. You could have guessed that, but this year there seem to be more reports about future iPhones than usual so maybe you should consider skipping this one. Decide now that you’re going to skip the iPhone 16 range, and then change your mind after Apple has done its usual persuasive launch.

And in the meantime, be sure to buy AirTags. We’re just saying.

BONUS: Subscribe via Patreon or Apple Podcasts to hear AppleInsider+, the extended edition which this time looks at you. Since you listen to the AppleInsider podcast, you’re unlikely to hate everything Apple ever does — but are you the opposite, do you think Apple can do no wrong? Wes Hilliard leads the discussion on tribalism, on pragmatism — and on whether Apple is losing its way.
